Flea Bitten Dawgs “Hangin’ Around the Hydrant” CD release tour!
The Flea Bitten Dawgs came together as a group after a recording that was a video promotion for a benefit for KDHX 88.1 Community Radio in St. Louis, MO in February 2010. The rendition we performed of Irving Berlin’s Russian Lullaby was done with a couple of day’s rehearsal and David playing a ukulele he borrowed from Thom as he didn’t own or play one at that time! The video has had over 10,000 hits on Youtube!
David Henry Spangler “Daviddawg” – Vocal/ Ukulele. David has played instruments since 1961. He plays many string instruments such as Ukulele, guitar, Bass, and Mandolin. His rich vocal style can croon a tune out of the 30’s or bring in a little reedy sound to a tune reminiscent of Willie Nelson. David’s ukulele playing is strong in swinging the rhythm with well thought out chords. It is hard to believe the color from just four strings!
Thom Pallozola “Thomdawg” – Ukulele/ Vocals. Thom started playing guitar in 1962 and started on the ukulele in 1964 on an old 1920 banjo ukulele. He also plays many string instruments including Ukulele, Guitar, Bass, Banjo, dulcimer, Mouthbow, and Autoharp. Thom plays lead in the group. He plays a simple  line, hoping the melodic ideas capture people more than a gazillion notes would.
Lee Kram “Mountaindawg” – Percussion. Lee has played percussion since his youth. Early on with his playing he assembled a percussion set designed for acoustic shows and has been in demand ever since. Lee has a feel for the music which transcends “keeping the beat” and tends to work his playing by adding color and subtle shadings to the music. He is truly part of the ideas coming from the stage. Lee and Thom have played in various groups for over 30 years.
The CD; “Hangin” Around the Hydrant” is the third CD from the Flea Bitten Dawgs. It joins “Dawg Bonz, All Natural Dawggie Treats” and “Love Songs, Dawggie Style” by bringing a mix of covers/concert favorites and originals to our fan’s… Boneheads!
