Root Down was created in the spring of 2012 by Gypsy vagabonds Dano and Julie Holcomb.  Their version of street food will focus largely on local and regional ingredients transformed into Creole, Southern and Soul influenced comfort food.

They will seek the best products available with emphasis on ingredients from farmers in Appalachia and the Piedmont who humanely raise their animals and conscientiously grow their food.  Because there are so many quality farms and suppliers in the region, they will also select items that come from outside of the immediate area if they consider them as being essential to the menu.  As for marine life, the reality is that the NC and SC coastlines are over 200 miles away, therefore, seafood will have to travel the greatest distances.  They look to get most of their fish from NC and SC waters, however, they plan on serving some of the incredible catches from the Gulf from time to time as well.
