MountainTrue, formerly the Environmental and Conservation Organization (ECO), will host Hendersonville Green Drinks on the second Thursday of each month. The gatherings will feature a brief presentation on a topic of environmental interest, with the remainder of the time focused on socializing and networking with people of similar interests.

The July gathering will feature a presentation on Bee City USA, followed by the Big Block Dodge band at 7:00. The Amazing Wood-fired Pizza Truck will offer food. The door prize will be a quart of local honey.

Phyllis Stiles first heard “the call of the bees” in 2006, when colony collapse disorder made national news, and beekeepers across the country experienced massive losses in their hives. She launched the Bee City USA certification in 2012, a program that endorses a set of commitments, defined in a resolution, for creating sustainable habitat for pollinators, which are vital to feeding the planet.

In May of this year Hendersonville became the 7th city nationwide to proclaim itself a Bee City, and the program is still going strong. Meet the director and hear her story at Hendersonville Green Drinks on Thursday, July 9th, at 6:00 at Southern Appalachian Brewery.

Everyone is welcome. Green Drinks is a great way to catch up with people you know, and also make new contacts. For more information about Hendersonville Green Drinks, contact Mark Stierwalt, Southern Regional Director for MountainTrue at (828) 692-0385 ext. 1004, or Mark@mountaintrue.org.
