*****DUE TO THE RAINS FROM TROPICAL DEPRESSION CLAUDETTE,
THE MOVIE HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO JUNE 27TH****
The Center’s newest documentary film focuses on the iconic moonshiners. Rather than the stereotypes of lazy, drunken mountaineers, moonshiners were some of the most entrepeneurial and creative farmers in a community who not only provided a public service but helped to put food on the table for themselves and their communities. The stories are both heart-rending, funny and moving and open a window into the soul of the Southern Appalachian world that’s rapidly vanishing.
All screenings include live music by Apple Country Bluegrass Band or Bandana Rhythm as well as a talk with the director and local moonshiners. The screening this evening will have Southern Appalachian Brewery’s craft beers, local hard ciders, wine, and soft drinks available for purchase, as well as food offerings by El Querubin Food Truck.
Masks are encouraged but not required.
